Nick Arredondo - Double Bass
Nick is an 8th grader at Vancouver School of Arts and Academics (VSAA) in Vancouver, Washington where he plays in the Focus Jazz Band and Middle School Jazz Combo. He also is a member of the Portland Youth Philharmonic’s Conservatory Orchestra (PYCO). This is Nick’s first year with the Pacific Crest Orchestra.
Nick has participated in numerous festivals and competitions. He won an Outstanding Musician Award for Middle School Combo at the Northwest Jazz Festival and the Director’s Award for outstanding leadership in the jazz band at VSAA.
Nick studies jazz with Andre St. James and classical bass with Oregon Symphony bassist Don Hermanns. Nick has attended workshops and performed with Rob Tapper and Gary Hobbs. In addition to the double bass, Nick enjoys playing the piano.
In the future, Nick plans on attending college and continuing to pursue his love of music, particularly jazz.
